The Utah Transit Authority will close a segment of 2100 South for the next several weekends for construction of its light-rail mass-transit system.
During Memorial Day weekend, 2100 South will be closed between 300 West and West Temple from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Tuesday. One westbound lane will be open, however, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. No eastbound travel will be possible through the construction zone this weekend.
Motorists are encouraged to use 1700 South as an alternate route.
The $312 million, 15-mile, light-rail line from Sandy to Salt Lake City is scheduled for completion in March of 2000.
