A Salt Lake firefighter who died in an AirMed rescue flight will be honored posthumously by the International Association of Fire Chiefs Tuesday.

At a ceremony in Las Vegas, the IAF will present the late Timothy Hynes with the James O. Page EMS Achievement Award.Hynes, a battalion chief, was killed in a January rescue flight while attempting to evacuate an avalanche victim from Little Cottonwood Canyon to University of Utah Hospital.

Hynes was known for his efforts in developing a renowned EMT and paramedic quality assurance program and was named Paramedic of the Year by the Utah Department of Health in 1994.
