The Salt Lake Organizing Committee has named Ed Eynon senior vice president of human resources. Eynon is the vice president of corporate human resources for Matrixx Marketing Inc. in Ogden.
When he starts his new job on June 10, Eynon will be responsible for taking care of employees and volunteers for the 2002 Winter Games. The organizing committee may have as many as 700 employees and 15,000 volunteers by 2002.Eynon said he doesn't expect to have any trouble finding good recruits. "This is one of the premier markets in the country for the quality of employees and volunteers," he said.
A graduate of Brigham Young University, Eynon spent six years at Matrixx, a national telemarketing firm that grew from 2,500 to 26,000 employees during that time.
His hiring means all of the five senior vice-president posts at SLOC are filled. The other vice-presidents are over finance, Games, communications and law and marketing.
SLOC has been under pressure by the International Olympic Committee to fill top-level slots. The job of sports director remains open, along with several other director-level posts.
SLOC also hired Michael H. Muir as the controller. Muir has spent the last 12 years working for the Intermountain Power Agency.
