Marion Elizabeth Paulsen Sjostrand, passed away May 18, 1998 in Salt Lake City.

She was born in Salt Lake City on June 10, 1916 to Paul I. Paulsen and Karen Bernsten Paulsen. Marion graduated as valedictorian of her class at Granite High School in 1935. She married Roy Gunner Sjostrand on September 20, 1937 and two years later on October 13, 1939 Karen their only child was born. Thus started her life long commitment to her career as wife to Roy and mother to Karen. Marion's husband, Roy joined the FBI in 1940 and together they live in Milwaukee, New York City, Boston, Detroit, and Seattle where they settled down and remained until 1990. Along the way she made many life long friends. In 1990 Marion returned home to Salt Lake City. Marion loved all her family and many friends and was a friend to all. She had lived in the Highland Cove Retirement Apartments from 1991 where she made many new friends in her later years. Marion was an active member of the LDS Church where she taught many sisters about sewing and crafts that were her favorite hobbies. Marion and Roy were very active in the Driftwood Artist Club in Seattle and together won many awards.Survived by her daughter, Karen Sjostrand Hill, CA; grandchildren, Cheryl Hays, Seattle, WA; Steven and Michael Hill, CA; Nathan Hill, Highland, UT; seven great-grandchildren; beloved stepmother, Martha W. Paulsen; brothers, Herman and Chris Paulsen; sisters, Delsa Paulsen and Ruth Salisbury; and sisters-in-law Mary Paulsen Francis and Orla Paulsen. Preceded in death her husband Roy in 1986; and two brothers Howard in 1989; and Byron in 1991.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at 12 noon in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 So. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Interment Seattle, Washington.
