Pals of the late Nicolette Larson have set up an endowment in her memory to help youngsters facing surgery.
Graham Nash and Larson's husband, Russell Kunkel, and her 8-year-old daughter, Elsie May, presented a check for $167,000 to the University of California Children's Hospital Thursday. The money will be used for a pre-surgery room for children.Larson, who lifted Neil Young's pop hit "Lotta Love" to the top of the charts in the 1970s, died Dec. 16 of complications from cerebral edema at age 45.
"Nicolette was so much a part of our community. She was there when we needed her for benefits and when we had a chance to celebrate her life we did it," Nash said.
The sold-out "It's Gonna Take a Lotta Love" benefit concerts included performances by Crosby, Stills & Nash, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Dan Fogelberg, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt and Jimmy Buffett.
