George Emory Barry, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 20, 1998, after a lingering illness.

George was born on May 31, 1916, to Alvin and Alta Barry, in Ogden, Utah. He was married to Ruth Dawson on July 17, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 11, 1957. George and Ruth began their almost 60 years of marriage in Ogden. Later, they moved their family to Bountiful, where they enlarged their circle of many friends. George then began a new career with Lyle North American Van Lines in Tacoma, Washington, where he retired as sales manager in 1988. The following year, George and Ruth returned to Bountiful. George was respected and admired by his associates and customers because of his dedicated and ethical professionalism. He was an Elder in the LDS Church. He loved being with his family and friends. He was a par golfer and an avid teaser.George is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; his daughters, Letty Carolyn Barry, Diane Jones (husband, Robert), and his son, Emory Barry (wife, Laurel); 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his only sister, Betty Barry Hadley, and grandson, Gregory Neil Barry.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 1998, at 1 p.m. in the Bountiful 43rd Ward Chapel, 990 No. 100 West, Bountiful, where friends may call one hour prior to services. A viewing will be held Friday, May 22, 1998, from 7-9 p.m. at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 No. 400 East. Interment Ogden City Cemetery.
