A 4th District Court Judge declared a mistrial Thursday in a child sex abuse case because two jurors talked about the matter outside the courtroom.
Judge Anthony Schofield said evidence shows the female jurors discussed the case over lunch Tuesday. The judge also noted that the jurors were not forthcoming when he questioned them.The trial for Arvid Oakley, 54, was rescheduled for September. The former operator of Superkids World of America is charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.
The judge intends to sanction the two jurors with community service.
