A Russian-built training plane crashed Tuesday while performing acrobatics for an audience of thousands of children watching an air show, and the pilot was killed.

No one on the ground was injured and there was no fire, said Steve Strawderman, a battalion chief with the Prince William County Fire Department.Jim Peters, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, identified the plane as a Sukhoi Su-29. It is described as an aerobatic and training plane.
