The Mountainland Association of Governments will host an outreach event for the elderly and their caregivers on Wednesday, June 24, at the Granite Flat Campground in American Fork Canyon.
"We're trying to reach elderly individuals who are in great need throughout our counties," said David J. Gardner, Utah County commissioner. "These events give their families the incentive to bring them out and to learn what services are available for them."Events include nature walks hosted by the Uinta National Forest, horseback riding hosted by the city of Springville and the Forest Service, and other activities sponsored by various agencies. Participants who wish to camp at Granite Flat will be able to do so the June 24-25 at no charge, Gardner said. Pleasant Grove is sending emergency medical support, and the Utah County Sheriff's Office will be on hand to help with emergencies.
Information tables and outreach workers will provide information of interest to the public. For information, call the Department of Aging Services at 377-2262.
