William E. Barrett passed away quietly at his home on May 18, 1998, following a prolonged illness.
He was born August 2, 1940 in Burley, Idaho. He is the son of Joseph William and Mary Luana Meacham Barrett.Bill is survived by his parents, Malta, Idaho; wife, Anne Darrington, Bountiful, Utah; son, Jeffrey Alan and wife, Martha Tueller; as well as two grandsons, Thomas William and Jacob Tueller, all of Irvine, California; daughter, Annette and husband, Keb Brady; and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth, of New York; son, Shane Dee, Berkeley, California; and son, Ryan Kay and wife, Karina Syphus, of Salt Lake City, Utah. Bill has five brothers, Terry, Dennis, Royce, Chad, all of California; and Joe, of Malta, Idaho; as well as five sisters, JoAnn, Barbara, Karen, Lynda, all in California; and Marva, in Denver, Colorado. He is preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Bill has held numerous positions of leadership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including one of his favorites - - teaching early morning seminary in California. He has been a leader in civic organizations as well. He was the manager of a 2500 acre church farm in Patterson, California; he also served on the White House staff in press advance under President Gerald R. Ford. Most of his career was in banking and finance.
Bill was comfortable with people from all walks of life. He loved people and people loved him. He focused on the process of life rather than the events, dedicating his time and talents to his family, his church and the community.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 22, 1998 at 10 a.m. at the Mueller Park Tenth Ward, 1800 Mueller Park Road, Bountiful. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and from 8:45 - 9:45 on Friday at the church prior to service. Interment will be Friday in the Elba, Idaho Cemetery where graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m.
