John Cooledge Nielson, 74, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, returned to our Heavenly Father May 15, 1998 at the Castleview Hospital in Price, Utah with his family surrounding him, after a very courageous battle with cancer.

He was born December 6, 1923 in Huntington to Peter and Delecty Bodily Nielson. He married Marjorie Ungerman October 31, 1946 in Huntington. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.An active member of the LDS Church, he held many leadership positions. He served our country during World War II and the Korean War in the United States Air Force. He was an outstanding businessman; founder and CEO of Nielson Construction Company, JWR Construction Co., and John C. Nielson and Sons CO. He received many business awards. He loved to serve his fellow man and was dedicated in helping others in need. He helped provide employment for many people in surrounding areas. All who know him know that his life and example speaks for itself in the accomplishments he made and contributed throughout his life. He was an example of dedication and hard work. He loved fishing, hunting, and the Utah Jazz. He loved his family, was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Everything he did was for his family.

Survived by his wife, Marjorie; sons and daughters, Carolyn (Tom) Holdaway, Boyd (Mary Ellen) Nielson, Connie (Scott) Roundy, Wayne (Teresa) Nielson, Ralph (Loretta) Nielson, Diane (Kent) Procarione; 28 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and five sisters, Jens, Rena, Harriet, Soren, Robert, Freda, Clair, Stella, and Eda; one son-in-law, Wade Hansen; one grandson, James Dell Nielson.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday May 19, 1998 in the Castle Dale Stake LDS Chapel in Castle Dale at 11 a.m. Viewing will be at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Church Monday 9:30 a.m. to services. Burial will be in the Huntington Cemetery.
