Dorothy Gardner Cleghon, age 84, of Afton, Star Valley, Wyoming, peacefully passed away from her earthly existence on Wednesday, May 13, 1998 in Bountiful, Utah.
She was born September 23, 1913, to Brigham and Maria Gardner. Dorothy worked at Hill Air Force Base during World War II, and then served for many years as an LPN and surgical nurse at the LDS Hospital in Afton. She courageously returned to school at the age of 51 and graduated as an RN from Weber State College in 1966. She then worked at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she retired in 1976.Dorothy, a born healer, loved dancing, horseback riding, bowling and her family.
She is survived by three children, Kayleen Clasby (Jimmie), West Valley City, Utah; Cecile "CB Adams" Stephens (Stan Adams), of Denver, Colorado; Dr. Vaughn Cleghon (Margie Rylatt), Frederick, Maryland; also three sisters, Cumora Miles; Maxine Van Brocklin; and Genevieve Bullard (Les); all of Utah; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, 1998 at Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 So. State Street, where family and friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Interment, Star Valley, Wyoming Cemetery at 5 p.m.
The family expresses their thanks to the staff and management of the Bountiful Rehabilitation and Health Center for their loving care over the years and their kind consideration during the final two days.
