A custodian employed by the LDS Church was found dead in the southern city of Oaxaca, beaten and apparently choked with a plastic cord only days after a Catholic priest was killed in the same state capital.
A group of youngsters arriving to sing for mothers on Mother's Day discovered the body of Mario Concepcion Rosales Lopez, 58, in his bedroom, the daily El Universal said May 11.The body was left on the floor, nude and with the face covered by a pillow, the report said. The room was disordered and a television set was missing.
Rosales' daughter told police that a man had been seen near the home. Police had yet to identify any suspects.
Don LeFevre, spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, said Rosales, a member of the faith's El Fortin congregation, was employed by the church as a custodian.
