An Orem man who was flown by helicopter to LDS Hospital for severe burn injuries is the suspect in an arson that caused $10,000 damage Sunday to a nearly finished condominium complex at 1164 W. 400 North.
Orem Police Lt. Bob Conner said the man lives about a block away from the damaged condominium, which police believe was doused with a fire-accelerating liquid Sunday afternoon. The man, 18, whose name was not released, called for medical attention from home while firefighters were putting out the blaze. The condo fire was one of three fires in Orem Sunday afternoon. The separate incidents, at a field and a Dumpster, did not cause injuries or extensive damage.
"He had severe burn injuries from the waist up," Conner said. The man was listed in critical condition Monday.
