Randi Augusta Olsen Bjorge, 77, passed away May 13, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born in Bergen, Norway on July 9, 1920 to Oliver Andreas and Ragna Hansine Johannesen Olsen. She married Kjell Bjorge on May 26, 1945 in Bergen, Norway. Randi was a well known artist and designer in Norway and contributed significantly to the preservation of Norwegian culture in the local community. She was honored last year by the Utah Arts Council and the State of Utah for her artistry. Locally she was best known for her design sculpture at the Bautastein, in the SLC International Peace Gardens, a stone monument complete with intricately carved runic inscriptions which she personally hand crafted with the help of her husband.Randi is survived by her husband, Kjell; children, Ragnar (Elin); Kjell T. (Therese); Sylvia (Robert) Berman; Randall (Wendy); eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Marius.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Randi's name to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, May 18, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Edgehill 1st Ward Chapel, 1750 So. 1500 East. Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 So.
