Even though rain washed out most of the action on Friday, one thing is definitely clear; if West is going to repeat as 4A tennis champs, it better start getting some work done.

The Panthers are in sixth place after the first day, trailing Bountiful, Highland, Timpview, who are in a three-way tie for first, as well as Logan and Mountain Crest.West saw its chances of repeating significantly hindered early when Logan's Jordan Williams upended Ian Tomb of West 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 1 doubles first round. Rick Hansen also dropped his opening match in No. 3 singles, again to a Grizzly as Logan's Ryan Bair was able to hold on to a 6-3, 6-4 win.

Because of the weather, only the first round was played Friday. Officials still plan to finish the tournament but will ask the players to start at 8 a.m. today in order to make up the lost time.
