Orem police arrested five men and two women Monday at a 10 p.m. ruckus police believe was started by a "lover's quarrel."

Lt. Bob Conner said police arrived at 536 Gammon Road before either party had popped any punches. Two men and their friends were reportedly squaring off over comments made to one of the women.Officers also found a loaded gun at the scene. The handgun was allegedly brandished by one of the suspects and thrown into the weeds as the police arrived.

"We may have arrived right before there would have been a shooting," Conner said.

Charges filed against the suspects include disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and carrying a concealed weapon. One man was also arrested on three outstanding warrants.
