Our beloved father and grandfather, Arthur Hobson Strong, died May 13, 1998 of natural causes.
This gentle, loving man has had a profound influence on all with whom he has come in contact.Born November 22, 1915 in Oakley, Idaho, son of Wallace and Savella Hobson Strong. He was the youngest of eight children of whom Lila Knight is the last survivor. Married Nedra Heward in the Salt Lake Temple January 27, 1939; she preceded him in death two years ago. They will be remembered for their tender devotion to each other. She served with him in all his assignments, including their work in the temple where he was also a sealer for 27 years. His great love was missionary work and he gave many years of service in the Missionary Department and later in overseeing the visitor's centers of the LDS Church. He served a mission to the Mexican people and was a beloved president of the Argentine Mission. He was also the president of the Santiago, Chile Temple and has been a bishop twice.
Survived by two sons, A. Brent (Margaret) Strong and Brian L. (Mary Ann) Strong; 17 grandchildren; almost 20 great-grandchildren.
Arthur will be remembered for his wisdom, kindness, unconditional love, and his warm-hearted humor.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 1998, 12 noon at the Willow Creek Stake Center, 2350 East Creek Road (8200 South). Friends may call Sunday, May 17, 1998, 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.
