Passing traffic forced a front loader and backhoe to careen into the Provo River at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, spilling some hydraulic fluid and oil into the heavy spring run-off waters.

Provo's Hazardous Material Team attempted to soak up leaking contaminants while the tractor, which had landed on its side, was being pulled out of the river.Lehi resident Daniel A. Oman, 17, told police he was driving the loader from Lehi to a construction site when he was pushed off the side of the road by a passing truck. Oman was not injured.
