Our beloved Grandma G.G., Fona M. Schultz Farry, age 91, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father Monday, May 11, 1998, surrounded by family, in Springville, Utah.
Fona was born in Winter Quarters, Carbon County, Utah, on June 6, 1906, a daughter of Christian Hyrum and Mary Elizabeth Muhlestein. She married Casto Omfred Schultz, October 7, 1925 in the Salt Lake Temple. They began raising their family in Somerset, Colorado, which had been the childhood home of Fona, and held many fond memories for the family. Later they moved their family to Provo, Utah. Casto preceded Fona in death in 1959. She married Joseph LeRoy Farry, Jan. 12, 1967, who was a loving companion to Fona, preceding her in death in 1979. Fona was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions and in the Provo Temple for 10 years. She retired after 25 years of service from the BYU Food Services, having been a manager at Knight-Mangum and the Wilkinson Center Sky Room, and also helped initiate the Quickie Lunch in the Cougareat. She enjoyed playing the piano, accompanying silent movies and local dances in Colorado in her early years, and entertaining her family throughout her life. She loved to crochet, making afghans for all of her family.Grandma G.G. will always be loved and appreciated for her kindness and devotion to all of her children and grandchildren, remembering each of their birthdays every year! She left all of us a legacy to be more positive and complimentary in our words and deeds, as she was, even up to the end.
Fona is survived by her three children, Richard D Schultz (Myrle), Norma Jean Averett (Dean), both of Springville, Utah; Van Alan Schultz (Lydia), Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; 12 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters, Rachel Mary, Grace, Eva and brothers, Grant Tell and Herrick Tune Muhlestein.
Funeral services Friday May 15, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Spring Creek 6th Ward, 350 North 400 East, Springville, Utah, where friends and family may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Timpanogos Memorial Gardens.
