Benjamin Harrison Smith, Jr., passed away from a heart attack May 7, 1998 in Kingman, AZ.
He was born Nov. 15, 1914 to Benjamin H., Sr. and Hattie Rupp Smith. He married Gladys McDonald (Pam) Smith, taking their vows in the Logan LDS Temple, and sealed for eternity. Ben and Gladys parented three children, Patricia L. Benjamin H., III (Ann), and Gregory M. (Nickie). Divorced. Married Bobbi G. Smith who survives him.Ben retired form the State of Utah, where he was Chief Inspector, Dept. of Business Regulations, Public Service Comm., and State Narcotics Investigation Unit. He was politically active. Past member BPOE, Int'l Footprinters, Kiwanis and Aviation Club. He was very proud of his Law Enforcement service.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Isobella, Virginia and Rosalie; also a great-grandson, Tommy. Survived by Gladys; children, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew.
At Ben's request, he was cremated in Arizona. His remains were returned to Salt Lake to rest in Salt Lake City Cemetery. Graveside services for family members only will be May 16, 1998, at 1 p.m.
