Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was released Monday from a Bountiful hospital after suffering "cardiac distress" Sunday morning at his home.

The general authority was admitted to Lakeview Hospital where he was treated and kept for observation overnight. He was resting comfortably at home Tuesday, said Don LeFevre, a church spokesman.Elder Hales, 65, who has been a general authority since 1975, suffered a heart attack in 1991 and spent a week and a half in LDS Hospital. He was called as an assistant to the Twelve in 1975, to the First Quorum of the Seventy in 1976 and served nine years as presiding bishop before being called as an apostle in 1994.
