This is in response to the article in the Deseret News Progress Edition titled, "Majority of Utahns still in favor of hosting 2002 Winter Games." Instead of asking just 600 individuals (out of how many Utahns?) if they are in favor of hosting the 2002 Winter Games, let's take a real vote and see where the majority lies. I don't feel that a poll is really a true representation of the will of the people.

Dan Jones said he was surprised at the outcome of the poll taken. I am not, however, surprised but would be surprised if the same results came from asking every citizen of the state. I and other associates and friends are not in favor of the 2002 Winter Games. I'm not asking for a statewide vote to be taken. I am not one of the so-called majority.Steve Dayton
