President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an alumnus of the University of Utah, will deliver the commencement address at his alma mater's 129th annual graduation June 12.

The U. will confer nearly 6,000 degrees to 1998 graduates during ceremonies in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.President Hinckley, 87, was ordained as the 15th president of the LDS Church on March 12, 1995.

President Hinckley has been active in community and business affairs, serving as chairman and board member of a number of business corporations. He has been the recipient of a number of educational honors including: The Distinguished Citizen Award from Southern Utah University, Distinguished Alumni Award from the U. and honorary doctorates from the U., Westminster College, Utah State University, Brigham Young University and Southern Utah University.
