Newly elected student officers at Salt Lake Community College said unity and better communication will be the keys to increasing student involvement next academic year.

Public Relations Vice President Ali Claybaugh said she plans to utilize a number of mediums to help students be more aware of campus activities. A freshman communication major, Claybaugh said she will work with the campus television network and SLCC's 10 bulletin board locations to advertise student activities and events.Jason Stout, campus affairs vice president, said his goals are to improve communication between student clubs and to make the clubs more accessible to students.

The new student council was sworn into office April 2 by former Student Association President Marla Kennedy. Sim Aguirre, a computer science sophomore, was elected the new president. Other officers include Executive Vice President Nathan Ward and Activities Vice President Tara Vest.
