A University of Utah professor was recently recognized by a state association as a top educator for young children with disabilities.

Andrea McDonnell, an assistant professor of special education with the U. Graduate School of Education, received the Service to the Field Award from the Utah Division of Early Childhood, Utah Council for Exceptional Children. She was chosen for her outstanding achievements in the area of early childhood intervention, especially for her work with families of children between the ages of birth and 5 years who have developmental delays or disabilities.McDonnell coordinates the U.'s early childhood special education certificate program.
