A Beanie Baby auction in Orem will help children in Utah County in the memory of Princess Diana.

The Center for Women and Children in Crisis and the Thru the Grapevine gift store in Orem are sponsoring the charity auction and drawing to be held May 16.A collectible stuffed bear, known as the "Ty Beanie Baby, Princess the Bear," will be offered to those who make a $1 donation.

The bears are already a sought-after collectors' item. Some are going for as much as $200.

Thru the Grapevine owners have four Ty Princess Bears. One will be given away through the drawing and three sold by silent auction.

All of the proceeds from the drawing go to the Center for Women And Children in Crisis as well as 60 percent of the proceeds from the silent auction. All other money raised goes back to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

Thru the Grapevine is at 212 S. State Street in Orem. Bids are due by noon, May 16.

The Center for Women and Children In Crisis relies almost solely on donations for its operation augmented by funds from the United Way, some state grant money and individual donations including the Orrin Hatch Family Foundation.
