The beginning of summer does not have to mean the end of learning for some eligible Salt Lake area kids.

Salt Lake and Tooele Counties are offering their award-winning Summer Youth Program to low-income young people 15 to 21 years old.Participants have the opportunity to gain work experience, explore career options in various fields, and develop pre-employment and work maturity skills - all while earning $6 to $6.50 an hour.

The program is open to families on public assistance or on the School Free Lunch Program and is funded through the Utah Department of Workforce Services. Interested people may call 468-0275 in Salt Lake County or 435-833-7310 in Tooele.
