DeRella Chloe Rasmussen Marchant, formerly of Salt Lake City, Utah, died May 9, 1998 in Bountiful, of causes incident to age.
She was born June 10, 1909 in Mink Creek, Franklin County, Idaho, a daughter of Hans Christian and Nancy Matilda Nelson Rasmussen. She was the youngest of seven children. She married Harold Grant Marchant, February 3, 1940 in Farmington, Utah. Grant died September 26, 1961. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple September 29, 1965. DeRella graduated from Preston High School in 1927. She graduated from LDS Hospital School of Nurses in 1931 with honors. She worked for Dr. Leaver Stauffer and Dr. Harry Frazier for many years. She was a nurse at Primary Children's Hospital for 18 years. She loved being around children and was a care giver to all. DeRella was active in the LDS Church. She had served as Relief Society President in the 8th Ward, Liberty Stake for six years. She also served in the Relief Society as a Counselor, Compassionate Service Leader and on the Stake Board. She attended the Temple regularly. Her hobbies were knitting, reading and traveling. She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada.She is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved and appreciated. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers, Joseph; Haman; Vern; and sisters, Lettie; LaVell; and Hattie.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 1998, 11 a.m., at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery, Preston, Idaho.
