Fighting broke out Saturday in a section of the Indiana State Prison that houses the state's toughest inmates, leaving four prisoners stabbed.

Two inmates were in stable condition after surgery. One was treated and taken back to the prison and one was hospitalized for observation after it was determined he might have internal bleeding. The inmates were stabbed during three separate incidents, all within an hour of the prisoners being taken to the cafeteria for breakfast, said prison spokesman Barry Nothstine.
