Seattle and Charlotte, N.C., did not make the first cut as the Democratic National Committee considered potential sites for its 2000 presidential convention.

The action Thursday by the DNC Site Selection Committee at the start of a three-day party meeting left seven cities in consideration: Boston, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New Orleans and Philadelphia.Selection committee members will visit those cities in the coming months to determine the host city, which normally would earn huge amounts of attention and money from the convention.
