A Kearns woman evacuated her three children from her home Saturday afternoon after smelling smoke and seeing it come from a back bedroom.
The fire, which started about 2:15 p.m., caused about $50,000 in damage. It was the third time that firefighters responded to a fire at Donna Wilson's home, 4895 S. 4800 West, in the past two months.Firefighters believe the fire was started accidentally by the woman's 5-year-old son, said Salt Lake County Fire Capt. Bill Brass. There were no injuries.
In March, the woman's car caught fire in front of her house after she turned the ignition.
Firefighters found a car bomb under its hood, Brass reported at the time. Two weeks before the car incident, a suspicious fire broke out in her carport.
"It is a sad chain of events for the woman. First she lost her car, now her house," Brass said.
The damage forced the family from the house, Brass said.
