Jerry's Famous Deli, known for catering to celebrities including Milton Berle, Jackie Mason and Ed Asner, was hit with a $431,000 penalty for sickening crew members of the sitcom "Frasier" with tainted food. None of the show's stars was involved.

The 24-hour deli once shut down for health code violations maintained its innocence after the jury finding last week in suburban Burbank, Calif., claiming the food was left out unrefrigerated too long after it was delivered.Nineteen people sued. Jurors awarded each a $10,000 base amount, with additional funds given individually for various pain and suffering and medical costs. One former NBC intern got $86,000 because he claimed the August 1994 incident caused recurring health problems.

The award was much less than the $1.5 million sought.
