The Utah Starzz traded center Karen Booker to the Houston Comets in exchange for guard Fran Harris. The swap is Utah's second in WNBA franchise history as well as the second this week.
Harris played in 25 of 28 games last year, averaging 4.2 points and 2.2 rebounds a game. She logged a season-high 13 points at Utah during the 1997 season.With 1,798 career points during four collegiate years, Harris finished sixth in University of Texas' scoring history. Texas won the NCAA title her senior season, with Harris selected as the Southwest Conference Player of the Year and SWC Championship MVP.
"I am really, really excited," said Harris, who had played professionally in Italy and Switzerland before signing with the Comets. "I feel like I can be in a role with Utah that I am more comfortable with. I think there's a real bright future for Utah, and I hope I can be part of that."
Booker, who played collegiately at Vanderbilt, averaged 2.3 points and 3.1 rebounds a game in 26 appearances last year with the Starzz.
