A West Salt Lake man faces felony charges in the stabbing of another man in April.

The victim, Jose Gonzales, age and address unknown, told police that on April 3 he was at 852 S. 700 East when the man, with whom he is familiar, said that he was going to kill him and stabbed him twice in the left chest area with an 8-inch blade, according to 3rd District Court charges filed Thursday.As a result of the stabbing, Gonzales was hospitalized and required surgery, the charges state.

The suspect, 27, West Salt Lake, has been charged with attempted murder, a second-degree felony, or in the alternative, aggravated assault, a second-degree felony. He is being held at the Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
