Carol Burnett promised her famous Tarzan yell, singer Frederica von Stade promised lots of laughs and pianist Van Cliburn promised a classic "Star-Spangled Banner" in a lighthearted preview of tonight's opening of the Bass Performance Hall.

The entertainers will be the first to perform in the new $65 million hall in downtown Fort Worth. "I'm so honored that we're the ones to kick it off," the San Antonio-born Burnett said Thursday. "I'm from Texas, so I'm very moved."It's so beautiful. It's intense and immense," she said, taking a line from one of the show's songs, "and intimate at the same time."
