Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend Ralph Crystal, 71, of White City, Utah passed away May 5, 1998 of heart failure at home.

Born December 31, 1926 to William James and Ruth Walker Crystal in American Fork, Utah where he attended elementary school through high school. After graduation from high school in 1945 his Uncle Sam was waiting for him to serve in the military. He received an honorable discharge November 28, 1946. He served in the Aleutian Islands. He attended BYU and graduated in 1954. Was employed by the LDS Church Seminaries for ten years. Completed Master's in Education in Mathematics from BYU and was employed at Granite Park Jr. High teaching mathematics from 1965 until June 1990.Married Joyce Gustafson on May 31, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they were the parents of eight children, or as Ralph used to say, "a basketball team, two substitutes, and a cheerleader." He was a faithful, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Served an LDS mission to the British Isles. Served at the Jordan River Temple, since it's opening, as a temple worker. Active in community, civic and political activities, including the Jaycees and as a member of the White City Community Council. His favorite things were his grandchildren, gardening, fishing, skiing, traveling, and a good laugh.

Preceded in death by his son, Darrin M. Crystal; parents; sisters, Marjorie Weeks and June Graham; and brother, Reed Crystal. Survived by: wife, Joyce Crystal; children, Ralph E. (Tammy) Crystal; Shane (Julie) Crystal; Lisa (Doug) Wright; Tim (Robin) Crystal; Todd Crystal; Jeremy (Angela) Crystal; Scott (Michelle) Crystal; 25 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral service Friday, May 8, 1998, 11 a.m., at the Sandy Central Stake Center, 1050 E. Galena Drive. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary,8090 So. State, and at the Stake Center Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Elysian Gardens.
