George R. Wiley chose a beautiful spring morning to leave us to go be with his wife Mary and life long friend, Hank Gissel. George died Saturday morning, May 2, 1998, from health complications.
He was born January 19, 1913 in Marshall Minnesota, he soon moved and grew up in the Vancouver, WA area, and later in Northern Idaho. George was lucky enough to have seen changes in this world that very few of us remember. He loved to tell stories over coffee about growing up on the farm or driving trucks across the U.S. He is truly an individual who helped shape this nation.George was a member of the Moose Lodge for 38 years and drove a truck for Lang Transportation and other companies for 40 years. He received numerous truck driving awards.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Dimarzo Wiley. He is survived by his daughters, Joanna Banford Jensen, Valoy Wiley; son, Ron DaRonche; stepson, Ivo Peabody; brother, Ray Wiley; sisters, Mrs. Mert Oakes, Grace Scott; grandchildren; Amber, Jennifer, and Ashley Jensen, and Tony DaRonche.
Special thanks to Rocky Mountain Care Center, Nurse Cheryl; CNA Sharon and the Hospice nurses for the special care they gave George his last few days. From Brian, Joanna, Amber, Jenny, and Ashley.
Services will be held on Thursday May 7, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the Lake Hills Memorial Cemetery, 10055 South State Street, Sandy. Funeral Directors; Deseret Memorial Mortuary.
