Turkey has raised its fee for a visa to $45 from $20. The change took effect Feb. 1, said Yasemin Aktas, a spokeswoman for the Turkish Government Tourist Office in New York, as a response to a U.S. increase (on the same day, United States fees also rose to $45 from $20). The Turkish fee may be paid in cash or with a money order, but not by credit card or check. Visitors must leave their passports at a consulate for 48 hours for the visa. According to Ms. Aktas, the visa may also be obtained on the spot on arrival in Turkey. Turkish Consulate, 821 United Nations Plaza, Fifth Floor, 46th St.; 212-949-0160.
