Prominent Salt Lake businessman B. Lue Bettilyon died at his home Thursday, April 30, 1998. He was 87.
Mr. Bettilyon, a World War II veteran, was president of the Homebuilders Association of Greater Salt Lake, Bettilyon Construction Co. and Bettilyon Mortgage Loan Co..Together with his late wife, Hope, he endowed a chair for diabetes research at the University of Utah Medical Center and provided start-up funds for the Hope Chapel at the Medical Center.
In 1997, he received the Emeritus Alumni Award from the University of Utah.
Mr. Bettilyon served as the first president of the Willow Creek Country Club, president of the South Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Salt Lake Rotary Club.
He also served in numerous leadership positions including the Salt Lake Real Estate Board, Associated General Contractors, the American Arbitration Association and the Utah State Contractor's Examining Committee.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday in the Mount Olympus 9th LDS Ward, 4625 S. Lanark Road. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Lawn.
