Two men have been charged with operating a methamphetamine lab at a Taylorsville apartment last year.

A woman complained to police on Nov. 3 that her roommate was cooking methamphetamine in the kitchen of the apartment they shared at 1973 W. Fallwood Drive (5635 South), according to 3rd District Court charges filed Thursday. The woman gave police a key to the apartment, the charges state. When officers entered the apartment, they found "a strong irritating chemical odor present in the air."

A man at the apartment allowed police to search the apartment after admitting that he had assisted a friend in three separate "cooks" during the previous week to manufacture methamphetamine, the charges say.

Police confiscated from the apartment numerous items and chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The suspects, ages 29 and 33, both of Taylorsville, have been charged with operating a clandestine lab, a first-degree felony, and with possession of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony.

Both suspects have been released from the Salt Lake Jail on $30,000 bail.
