Changes are coming for two banks in downtown Salt Lake City.
First Security Bank announced that on May 22 its branch at 76 E. 300 South will close and the customer's accounts transferred to the branch at 405 S. Main. A spokesman said the account numbers will remain the same and it will be business as usual after the transfer.All of the employees at the branch being closed will transfer to the 405 S. Main branch to help customers from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday. The hours for the drive-up are 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Customers have received letters notifying them of the closing.
In exchange for the closing, First Security on May 11 will open a branch on the first floor of the new American Stores Tower, 300 South and Main, that will have retail, private and trust banking in addition to individual withdrawals and deposits.
Wells Fargo Bank will close its branch at 60 E. South Temple in the ZCMI Center on July 23 because of a lack of business being accomplished there, said a spokesman.
That bank also has notified customers of the closing and encouraged them to continue banking at Wells Fargo locations at 180 S. Main, 280 E. 200 South, 710 S. 200 West and 235 S. 1300 East. The spokesman said there will be no change in the way accounts are handled.
