The Grateful Dead mixed all types of styles - everything from folk, bluegrass and country to rock and blues.

The band even wove bits and yarns of jazz into the mix.Well, four internationally known jazz artists have decided to come together for "Jazz Is Dead," a jazz-music tribute to the Grateful Dead.

"Jazz Is Dead" - featuring drummer Billy Cobham, guitarist Jimmy Herring, bassist Alphonso Johnson and keyboardist T. Lavitz - will play at the Tower Theatre, 876 E. 900 South, Thursday, May 7. The grooving will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the local band Sun Masons.

Tickets are on sale for $16 in advance at Graywhale CDs and the Tower Theatre. Tickets will also be available the day of the show at the Tower for $19.
