Scott A. Smith, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on April 28, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born October 4, 1911 in Heber City, Utah, the son of Moroni A. Smith and Blanche Beck Smith. Scott has been a resident of Salt Lake City since 1912. On February 15, 1939, he married Charlotte Varley. Scott was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity at the Unviersity of Utah, graduating in 1934. He was a member of Fort Douglas and Hidden Valley Country Clubs. Scott served as the President of Fort Douglas in 1969. He enjoyed golfing with is friends - "The Gruesomes" - and loved his golfing trips to California and Hawaii. He was engaged in wool buying the the western states for 45 years, and active in oil and gas production in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. Prior to graduation from the Unviersity of Utah, Scott worked in the stockyards at Kansas City and Chicago, Illinois. Scott was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughter, Kathy (David) Sorensen; son, Larry (Allyson) Smith; two granddaughters, Carina Sorensen, and Jennifer Smith. Also surviving is a sister, Phyllis (Dick) Stewart. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Lela S. Wixom, Ray Smith, Merrill Smith, Evelyn S. Olsen, Emory Smith, Blaine Smith and Alice S. Sheya.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 2, 1998 at 11:30 a.m. at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 E. 100 So., Salt Lake City, where friends and family may call one hour prior to service. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.

He kept his sense of humor until the very end.
