Arne Conrad Thedell, 82, died Monday morning, April 27, 1998 at the Logan Regional Hospital.

He was born of Swedish and Finnish heritage to Carl and Emma Johansen Thedell on December 25, 1915 in Salt Lake City. He had four brothers and a sister: Stellar, Qustar, Folke Leonard and Siri Wintle, who all predeceased him.He attended West High School, University of Utah and Chicago College of Optometry. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Air Corps. He was at Scolffield barracks when attacked by the Japanese. He transferred to the Army Air Corps at Biggs Field, El Paso, Texas and there was injured in an air crash. He spent two years in the hospital before being discharged in 1945 at Davis Monthan Field. He married Helen Dean of LaMoille, Illinois on May 20, 1950. He always had a smile for everyone and was a kind, hardworking man.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, and there three children: Deborah (Ben) Kohrs, Hunter, Kansas; Terry (June) Thedell, San Diego, California; Linda (Antonio) Ugalde, Logan. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Jenica Kohrs; Brian, Lisa and Greg Thedell; Steven and Jennifer Mendez (Ugalde).

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 1998 in the Cranney Mortuary Chapel, 420 East 1800 North with Reverend John McGearey of the Logan First Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery at 3 p.m.
