Myrtle Edith McKnight Demke, 78, died April 26, 1998, in Salt Lake City.
Born November 29, 1919, in Liverpool, England, to Harold Edward and Edith Ruby Usher McKnight. Married Edmund August Demke, May 1, 1940, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Their marriage lasted just five days short of 58 years.She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in Sunday School, Primary, and as Relief Society President. She loved music, teaching, and planning and directing Junior Sunday School programs. Myrtle loved her garden and flowers.
Survived by her loving husband, Edmund; six children, Kent E. and Claudia Demke of Bountiful, Kathleen and Jack Searle of Murray, Pat and Reed Jensen of Holiday, Ray Demke of Salt Lake, Don Demke of Salt Lake, Jack and Kim Demke of Salt Lake, and Sandy and Harry Zuckerman of Boise; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Diane (Hazel) Notestine. Preceded in death by her parents, and a granddaughter, Lisa Demke.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at 12 noon at the Belvedere Ward, 607 East Downington Ave (1830 South). Friends and family may call Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and Wednesday one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
