Two Southern California tourists were killed when a plane crashed seconds after take-off Thursday morning.

Killed were:Raymond Lee Mills, 38, Ontario, Calif.

Betty Jane Riggi, 41, Ontario, Calif.

According to Parowan Police Chief Wayne Townsend, the Cessna 150 took off shortly after 11 a.m., southbound from the Parowan airport.

The plane was about 150 feet in the air when it banked right, then left, stalled and nose-dived into a field 100 yards southwest of the runway. High winds were a factor in the crash, the press release states.

Mills and Riggi, who had been touring the area and visiting friends for several days, were killed on impact. There was no one else on board. Mills was an experienced pilot, Townsend said.
