A special City Council meeting has been scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday to consider approval of the master development agreement for the RiverPark office complex.
The controversial project cleared two major hurdles Tuesday night when council members unanimously approved a conditional-use permit and general site plan for the development, west of the Jordan River and south of 10600 South.The approval of the master development agreement is critical to moving the project forward. If the agreement is not approved by a Tuesday, April 28, deadline, the property's zoning would revert to the original agricultural zone and the development would be killed.
A group of residents calling themselves Save Open Space had attempted to get declared invalid in 3rd District Court, the rezone of land for the project plus an extension of the rezone. But a judge ruled against SOS.
Still pending is an appeal by SOS to the Utah Supreme Court, asking the court to make South Jordan allow SOS to conduct a referendum on the RiverPark rezone extension.
