Marilyn Stapley Rasmussen, age 65, died April 22, 1998 in Santa Clara, Utah.

She was born December 5, 1932 in Milford, Utah to Dee Evan and Hazel Prince Stapley. She married R.E. "Gene" Rasmussen June 10, 1954 in the St. George LDS Temple.Marilyn graduated from BYU in 1954 and was a kindergarten teacher for 27 years. Throughout her life she has lived in Roswell, New Mexico; Whittier, California; Bountiful, Utah; Twin Falls, Idaho; and Santa Clara, Utah. She was a member of the LDS church serving a mission in Portugal Lisbon South with one year in the Republic of Cape Verde. She has served as Relief Society president, Young Women's president, Choir Director and organist for many years, as well as many other positions. At the time of her death she was serving as an ordinance worker in the St. George Temple.

She is survived by her husband, Gene; four children, Lori (Mel) Roper, Taylorsville, Utah; Denise (Keith) Gregory, Las Vegas, Nevada; Patti (Paul) Haire, Las Vegas, Nevada; and Gina (Paul) Crezee, Sandy, Utah; 13 grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Claudia Dykman, Midvale, Utah; Georgia Jones, Cedar City, Utah; DeAnna Elmer, Santa Clara, Utah; and Evan Stapley, Washington, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dee Evan and Hazel Stapley.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 25, 1998, 2 p.m. at the Ivins LDS 9th Ward Chapel, 240 East 1060 South, Ivins, Utah. Friends may call Friday, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary, 300 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah, and Saturday 1-2 p.m. at the chapel prior to services. Interment will be in the Santa Clara City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, 673-4221.
