Virginia Scheid Tippetts, died April 20, 1998 in Kaysville, Utah at the age of 87.

Born April 16, 1911 in Quincy, Illinois, the oldest child and only daughter of Elmer W. and Isabella M. Scheid.Married Vernal F. Tippetts on December 12, 1928 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She attended Illionis State Teachers College in Macomb, Illinois and BYU, receiving a teaching certificate. She and her husband Vernal taught school in Sevier County after they were married. As children came into their family her life was devoted to being a wife and mother while her husband continued various teaching and administrative positions. For over 30 years Virginia and Vernal owned and operated a boarding house located near the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where they were an influence for good in many lives. She was a convert to the LDS church at the age of 14, and she remained active all her life, serving in many different capacities in the church including Relief Society President. She lived her entire 87 years finding the good in others. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.

Virginia was a friend to everyone she met. She was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about all aspects of the world and people around her.

Her greatest treasure was her family and she especially delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included crocheting, needlework and family history. She used her talents and skills to create beautiful memories for her family.

She is survived by sons Richard, Pahrump, NV; Maynard (Dorothy), Ogden, UT; Carlyle (Carol), Fort Collins, CO; and daughters, Jacqueline (Robert) Chambers, Matzatlan, Mexico Ann (Loren) Cullum, SLC, UT. 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Vernal; younger brother, David; and second son, DuWayne.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the Appletree Retirement Home Staff and the home health care personnel who gave such caring service to our beloved mother and grandmother

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 1998 at 12 noon, Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, SLC (please enter 700 south from State Street, due to construction). Prior to service family and friends may gather 10:30 to 11:45. Interment, Provo City Cemetery
